Easter menu inspiration – 2014

It’s been a fabulous Easter with the pops of colour and blissful Autumn weather in Orange. We decided to mark our arrival in Orange (last Easter Monday 2013) by holding an inaugural festive event for all the family to join in.  Sharing special moments like these particularly with the children becomes immensely valuable as we are creating rich memories for them to cherish for years to come.

I chose to prepare a mediterranean inspired menu for a table of eighteen.

Antipasto plate with a Double cream brie from local Cheese maker ‘The Second Mouse Cheese Company’ see  https://www.facebook.com/SecondMouseCheeseCo and Funghi & ripieni – see http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/33309/funghi+ripieni

Porchetta see http://www.gourmettraveller.com.au/recipes/recipe-search/masterclass/2012/4/porchetta/

Slow cooked lamb with pine nuts and currants in Sophie Hansen’s beautifully written book ‘Local is Lovely’ see http://www.local-lovely.com/p/recipes.html

and to accompany…

Celeriac mash in the April issue of delicious. magazine page 64 see https://www.facebook.com/deliciousmagazine

Sweet spiced roast carrots see http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/7703/sweet+spiced+roast+carrots

A medley of green vegetables; brussels sprouts, broccoli and green beans tossed in olive oil and garlic.

To finish and win the whole family over, Mum’s favourite chocolate easter cake with dollops of vanilla icecream.

What a celebration it has been over this Easter holiday…I couldn’t resist a Lindsay & Edmunds Penguin, see https://www.facebook.com/theagresticgrocer belgian chocolate heaven!
